Early October Updates

Hello everyone. Now that September is behind us (man did that go fast) I thought I'd post on what's been happening with us.

Firstly, Joshua - he is growing like a weed, just like his big brother. He is now approaching two months old and has outgrown his 3-month clothing. Also, he's now starting to smile a little bit. Here are a couple of recent pictures.

In other news, you may recall my "Tiling Done" post from this past summer; there was a caveat, though; the post stated "except for back hall" in small print. Well, one of my weekends in September was devoted to finishing that tiling, marking the end of my career as a hobbyist tiler. (I should note, though, that there is a small bathroom in our finished basement which would look great in tile... someday (when I've forgotten how much work it takes).) It also marked the last major home improvement project we have planned for our new house, capping off a crazy few months.

A couple of weeks ago I took a business trip to Pittsburgh (left Sunday, returned Tuesday) and Nicole took the boys up to Grand Rapids to see her family. Here are a couple of pictures from that trip. A highlight was Joshua meeting his great-great-grandmother King. Also, on that Sunday, our church had a tailgate after the service, so the boys were decked out in their Steelers gear. That was also the first Sunday I played piano with the church worship band - after cleaning out the cobwebs (I haven't really touched a piano for more than a couple minutes in years), I had a blast.

Another weekend in September, we had our first Pittsburgh house guest. One of Nicole's friends from work had come out to see Notre Dame football (she's an alum), and stayed with us for the night. It was nice to see a familiar face and catch up. On that same weekend, we also went to a neighbor's house for a barbecue. The family has two sons, close in age to our kids, and Caleb had a blast playing with their 2 1/2 year old.

And lastly, we had a chance to catch up on some outdoor work in September. Caleb was very interested in helping with Nicole's planting, as you can see in these pictures.
