A Momentous Day
Today was a big day for me, Matt. Five years ago today I bought my first car, the trusty "french blue" (i.e., purple) Toyota Corolla. My car has taken me lot of places during the last five years - obviously there have been numerous trips between Pittsburgh/Grove City and Grand Rapids, but also our honeymoon to Virginia (Shenandoah National Park), North Carolina (Outer Banks) and South Carolina (Hilton Head). The picture below was taken on one of the legs of that trip.
Some of you may be thinking that a car turning five isn't that big of a deal. Well, this day came with an added bonus. The first day I had my car, I wrote down the mileage in a little notebook. And on this day, exactly five years later, my car has exactly 90,000 miles more on it. (I know, I know, 100,000 would have been cooler, but still, an exact denomination of ten-thousand? Come on!) To document this event I took the picture shown below. I wrote the first five lines of text five years ago today, and added the last two lines today. I also included a newspaper headline to capture the day. Click the picture to view a larger version.
In other news, everything is going well for the family. I know I haven't posted for a while - I anticipate being able to use the upcoming holiday weekend to fill you in with what we've been up to (and update my Webshots community page).
