Caleb Changes

I thought I would take a little time to update everybody on then new things Caleb is doing. He is just over 8 months old now, and he is a lot of fun! He is learning to eat all sorts of new foods. At dinner time he eats most of the same things that Matt and I eat just cut up into little pieces. He is willing to try just about anything. His new teeth are helping him out. He has had his bottom 2 teeth for a couple of months and about 2 weeks ago his two top teeth came in, and now he is working on 2 more top teeth.

Caleb is getting very big. We haven't had him weighed in awhile, but he is definitely wearing 18 month clothes now. He keeps me strong while I lug him around everywhere! Caleb is also becoming more and more mobile. He has learned to crawl by moving himself like a caterpillar across the floor. He also is quite an efficient roller. He only crawls as far as he needs to grab the toy he wants and then stops, but I'm sure that in the next month or so he'll be moving around everywhere. We've installed a baby gate at the top of the stairs and put child locks on the cabinets and outlet covers up to prepare for the mobility ahead! Caleb also enjoys standing a lot, and is starting to learn to pull up.

His friend Abby who is a year and a half old has taught him some communication skills as well. He now shakes his head no all the time...he finds that to be quite funny. He has also learned to say hi and wave. These are all things that I am quite certain he has picked up from Abby. It is all very cute!

Caleb is so much fun that we have had to make sure to share him with all our family members. In fact, August has been so full of visitors that Matt and I have counted and realized we will only have 6 "guest free" days in the entire month!

Another exciting happening this month was our purchase of a hiking backpack for Caleb. We have been taking advantage of the many beautiful hiking spots near our home. Matt gets a good workout hauling Caleb around, and Caleb seems to enjoy the view.

Jared says he really likes Caleb's new hiking backpack. He says if we had a kid he would want the same one.

Oh how cute! It's so amazing how quickly kids learn and change, isn't it?! I'm glad you're enjoying your little guy so much -- He sure is a cutie!! I really like this blog stuff. I keep checking to see what you're all up to, and I'm always happy to read the news :-) Give Caleb a squeeze from his great aunt. Love you guys! Aunt Julaine
